Students, faculty, and staff sing carols, light candles, drink hot cocoa and cider before lighting the tree. The campus hosts a ceremony to honor United States veterans. The tailgate takes place during athletic events. Students and alumni enjoy live music, games, food and drinks. Students attend a dance with a DJ and photographer. The top nominees are crowned Marlin Royalty. Students nominate Homecoming Court representatives from the first-year, sophomore, junior, and senior classes. Participants often perform brief skits or routines in costume. Students, faculty/staff, and furry friends process on a short campus route (by foot or car). Teams compete in lip sync performances that often include dancing, skits, and costumes.Īlumni are invited back to campus to participate in a weekend of events. The fraternities and sororities recruit new members. Teams compete in physical challenges in a mud pit. Student organizations and campus departments recruit students for opportunities for the upcoming year. New students dance the night away under the glow of neon lights. New students play roulette, black jack, and other casino games while competing for fun prizes. New students enjoy music, novelties, recreation, and food after move-in.
